Question of HONOR and LOVE - a Testimony

               HONOR and LOVE

Once upon a time there was a family . . .

The mother, now a great-grandmother and widow was winding-down her earthly lifespan.

Her children were in the midst of occasional mid-life crises. Her grand-children were coping the best they could, while struggling with their own issues of faith and principals on which they could base their lives. They had young children of their own, and the words and decisions of the parents and their parents' parents, would affect the lives of their children, setting the course of each young life for the future.

But are the sins of the parents, of the grandparents, and of the great-grandparents declaring doom for the next generation, and the generations yet to come? Or is there a 'loophole' in the contract of Life?

Are we stuck with our sins, or has our Father God given us a way out?

Yes, yes, thank God! It is

THE WAY OF THE CROSS

OF JESUS CHRIST!

'What can wash away my sin?

Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.

What can make me whole again?

Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.

How precious is the flow

That washes white as snow!

No other fount I know.

Nothing but the Blood of Jesus!'

The Ten Commandments given by God through Moses, gives to the descendants of Abraham (and to all mankind) the eternal necessity of putting our Creator/Father, Savior and LORD at the top of our priority list -- in everything!

"I Am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

You shall have no other gods before Me.

You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

You shall not worship them or serve them; for I the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. . ."   [Exodus 20:3-6]

Don't know about you who read these words, ...

but the great-grandmother is standing with Joshua who said to the Children of Israel as he approached the time of his own death:

"Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.

If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

[Joshua 24:14,15]

It clearly appears that 'cultural diversity' as seen today in the USA and elsewhere, is not an option for those who choose to truly know and serve God. 'Poor' King Solomon, as wealthy as he was, made the same tragic mistake time after time, of choosing wives and concubines who brought their foreign 'gods' with them. The purity of Israel's relationship with the Living God, known by Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, was damaged from then on, and today we clearly see the results throughout history - if we are willing to do so!

When our Lord Jesus was asked,

"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"

And He said to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'

"This is the great and foremost commandment.

The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'

"On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

[Matthew 22:36-40]

We could stop right there and think about this for a while . . .

but God has added something wonderful, amazing, and

literally awesome for us to know and to believe. Here it is.

Before Jesus Christ ascended to heaven following His Resurrection and final days with His disciples, He said this:

"But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you,

"And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world [system] has been judged.

"I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you unto all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

"He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

"All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you."

Many years have passed since the great-grandmother first read these words from the One Who had forgiven her, healed her, and changed her forever. He had been caring for her and her children for a few years when a crisis occured involving rebellion and disobedience. After a violent outburst of anger from a son, she made her way to her room. She put the matter before her Heavenly Father, and thanked Him for his mercy and revelation. He then revealed His Love and Amazing Grace as seen in the following . . .
