A Higher Law

   A Higher Law ?

There seems to be a law for just about everything these days.

When a situation exists which needs to be changed, someone will say:

"There ought to be a law!"

The big problem, however, is that some people don't believe that the laws defining boundaries for everyone else, should define boundaries for them. "They are a law unto themselves," the saying goes.

So, what do we do? How do we protect ourselves from the lawless ones who prey on the innocent, the gullible, the trusting ones, those who are most vulnerable?

Cross with flowers"Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves," Jesus said.

How do we do that today? Do we need many years of academic education so we can claim a degree to impress the world? Or can we have a living relationship with Someone Who knows everything, Who lives everywhere, and Who has the power to change our situation because He created this world and everything and everybody in it?

Yes, we can. Once we see this Truth and enter into it, we will know the Truth, and we will know the One Who is the Door to ALL TRUTH!

"I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through Me."

What do we do with an assertion like that? Simply put: we accept it and put ourselves into His nail-pierced hands, or we reject it - thereby separating ourselves from Love, Truth and Life forever.

The author made this decision, holding up a white flag of surrender, in October of 1960. It has now passed the 55-year mark for me. You may ask if I have ever regretted my decision.

How could I regret it! My Heavenly Father, His Son, Yeshua (Jesus), and Holy Spirit have set me free from the power of sin, the lies of God's enemy, satan, and the temporary attractions of the world and of its system.

I have experienced more heavenly rescues than I can count! Neither can I count the miraculous interventions in every area of my life, and the lives of my family members. It is simply an amazing lifestyle!

This brings us to the question: "Is There a Higher Law?"

I must answer:

Yes. It is the Law of Love.

The answer began to form for me when I first read what we know as   "The   Sermon on the Mount." It is found in Matthew's book,    chapters five through   seven. It is an intense concentration of the   teachings of Jesus of Nazareth   regarding the kingdom of heaven on  Earth.

In this passage the Son of God teaches that God's standard is so   much higher than our poor human attempt at "doing right" and  shows that there is no way we can achieve it by ourselves.

Sin is the problem. We are sinners. We need a Savior.  Again,

"I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father  but by Me."

Bottom line. End of story - but actually, it is the beginning of forever!

Here's a personal example and a true story:

I had just left the bedroom of my thirteen-year-old son, after angrily removing a recording of which I did not approve. My frustrations with the childrens' behavior seldom turned to anger, because I would always pray, committing the matter to God. In the process, His peace would always win over my humanity.

This particular day however, was different. I was shaken by the intensity of my son's anger. Silently, I looked to heaven, and before I reached my own room and closed the door, a very unusual message had formed in my spirit:

"You shall love the Lord Your God with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul and all your strength. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. This is the first and second great commandment.  Now, say it this way.

You SHALL love the Lord Your God with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul and all of your strength. You SHALL love your neighbor as yourself.

My commandment is also My promise: you SHALL...and you can claim it in prayer!"

Rainblossoms, crabappleMy emotional raindrops became glowing blossoms as I began to pray: "Father, I thank you that you have said that this commandment is a promise.

Thank you that I SHALL love the Lord my God with all my heart, mind, soul and strength - and that I SHALL love my neighbor as myself! Now, Lord, I thank you that my son and his younger brothers and sisters SHALL all love the Lord Our God with all their heart, mind, soul and strength, and they SHALL love their neighbor as themselves!

I declare it done, in Jesus' Name, AMEN!"

Half laughing now in my excitement, I remained praying these same words and inserting the names of everyone I could remember who was a part of my life.

"Father, thank You that You said. . . "
