2012 Postwar Testimony from Israel - Pierce

After the recent Israeli - Gaza conflict,

Amber and Daniel Pierce shared the following.

A little post-war talk:

Last week during Operation Pillar of Cloud it was hard for me to communicate what I was feeling so that's why I'm just now writing about it. It's actually a little traumatic any way you slice it and takes about a week to process all that happened and to begin to feel normal again. When we received the call that we were about to receive severe attacks from Gaza and to stay in the house, I wasn't too worried. We had been through rocket fire before so I thought it would be like those previous times. Daniel was out when the sirens began to sound. It makes me much more comfortable if we are all together when the sirens go off. As soon as Daniel returned home, he joined us in the bomb shelter. We waited to hear the explosions expecting to hear two or three blast like so many times before. This time we counted 18 explosions all together.

Some fear set in because we didn't know what to expect. This was very different than past attacks. We realized that the Iron Dome is not equipped to dodge more than a few rockets at a time. We realized that no one really knew what to expect. The sirens sounded through the nights and days and we slept in the bomb shelter. I began with lots of faith, and feeling angelic presence and heaven all around me. By the third day I just felt depressed, and began to think "This is all too much - how long will this last? This is constant danger that really takes endurance. It's not just one bad thing that happens and then its over. This will take real endurance to get through."

By the time we had the ceasefire I felt like I couldn't put two sentences together. Daniel also realized that even he was a little shell shocked, as the three of us would get jumpy hearing any noise and thinking that we were hearing an alarm siren all over again. Remember, Daniel was a cop for ten years and doesn't get shaken easily. I began to seek the Lord in how we would recover and be stronger in the next round of war.

While Stephanie Herzog and I were visiting she told me that while living in France, God told them to always have a Joshua and Caleb testimony. That hit me like a ton of bricks, healed me, and gave us ammunition for any other conflicts that come our way. I read the story of Joshua and Caleb and I have a good report. The giants are big but God is bigger. The land is everything He said it would be . it's full of promise. God did miracles! There was little damage and we're still alive. Though there were rockets raining down all around us, our neighborhood was untouched. God showed me how the angels had also been fighting on our behalf and actually moving the rockets into the unoccupied places. Remember that as we're walking through this season of warfare that He is fighting for you. You only need to be still! (Exodus 14:14)

Blessings and Shalom,

Amber and Daniel Pierce
