But What Has GOD Said?
Introduction --
Amazing Grace has more applications than divine rescue alone.
Here is an example:
Picture a common room in a senior apartment community. There are book shelves around the room, a table with several puzzles-in-progress, and four desks with PC computer systems.
Your editor sat at one of the computers, mulling over the start of a
new article for the Lindsay House Publishing website.
Behind her, a man at another desk sneezed. Your editor responded
with a "God bless you." The man said "Thank you."
She responded, "I know that saying 'God bless you' when someone sneezes, is a remnant of a medieval superstition - but still, blessing someone is a good thing."
Then the two strangers were launched on a conversation which was apparently designed in heaven, and in less than 1/4 of an hour, they were strangers no longer. Each had revealed their true thoughts and principles, and recognized one another as brother and sister in Christ. Each one had information and conviction which helped the other. Mutual encouragement was expressed and experienced.
They exchanged cards as they parted.
To paraphrase 'Dirty Harry' (in a positive way), they made each other's day, and it was not yet 9:00 am!
Back now to the Opinions a-Plenty subject --
There are so many voices out there - the Lindsay House Publishing website being only one of 10s of thousands. Each writer and broadcaster has their own point of view, their own agenda.
Thanks to the Creator's plan for the human race, and the Constitution of the United States, each American has the right to self-expression within the bounds of their ability. If we want to express our principles, and encourage others to do the same, we need to speak and write effectively.
The main question is -- are we dedicated to Truth. If Truth with honesty and integrity is our goal, where does the inspiration come from?
However, if deception and perversion of truth in order to gain advantage over others is our goal, we will find plenty of inspiration from the 'father of lies' himself.
That understood, we will be wise to search our souls for our true motives. For example,
Jesus warned that to worship mammon (obsession with money and possessions), prohibits us from knowing and serving God. Now that's pretty extreme, isn't it! Have we listened to ourselves recently - really listened - to the attitudes behind the words that express our principles and beliefs?
Truly, this self-searching is not optional if we care where we are going to spend eternity. Just pick up a copy of the Holy Bible and turn to Matthew's Gospel, 24th and 25th chapters. Then read. Then let's have a conversation with our Heavenly Father.
It could really make your day - and not only your day,
IT COULD MAKE YOUR FOREVER !!!
