2012 Olympians - Life Lessons

2012 Olympics XXX

Men and Women Who Train, Discipline,
and Endure to Become Champions

Hunter Kekmper, Triathalon Olympian

36-year-old Hunter Kemper
was a four-time Olympic
competitor. He overcame a
broken elbow a year ago
and showed the world
that the triathalon is still
his special race.
"I didn't know if I would actually be back here, I went through so much - it's been a struggle," said Kemper. He has improved his performance in each successive Olympiad: He finished 17th in his Sydney debut, then was ninth in 2004 and crossed the line seventh, four years ago with a personal Olympic-best 1:49:48.75. The only American male triathlete ever to be ranked No. 1 in the world by the ITU.

Brownlee Brothers after victory
The Brownlee Brothers, Alistair and Jonathan
from Yorkshire, England won the Men's Triathalon with the gold and bronze medals.
Their story is one of inter-generational support
and encouragement.

We did it!

Alistair Brownlee Wins Mens' Triathalon
They live in an English retirement village,
and their lives are devoted to be the very best at what they do --competitive racing.
Their senior, retired neighbors give their all to the young men, running errands, bringing food, and encouraging them in many ways.

Aly worries about score
Then there is Aly Reisman, gymnast extraordinaire.
She is the captain of the Olympics XXX American Women's Gymnastic Team.
They call her "The Rock".

Judge bites her lip
Aly's usual top performance seemed to have lost
its edge one night, and her marks by the judges
were below where they ought to be.
Aly looked at the scoreboard with disappointment,
and her coaches took action demanding that
the judges replay the tape of Aly's performance.
This judge bit her lip as she watched.

Bela smiles approval

Bela Karolyi coached Nadia Comanice and her team.
Nadia won a perfect ten --
the first, and only one on record.
Now he smiles upon Aly Reisman,
coached by Bela's wife, Martha
as the judges correct their first decision.

Coach hugs Aly in joy

Thankful and rejoicing, Aly Reisman and her
personal coach greet the corrected statistics
for her performance.
Aly is a young woman of faith and in whom
hope springs eternal. Along with her other team
members and their world-class coaches,
she has given the world moments of inspiration
and examples of personal and group courage
that we will never forget.

     Joy and Relief!

We believe we have seen a fulfillment of

Psalm 119:165
Mark 10:27
John 17:22-23

"Those who love Your law have great peace,
And nothing causes them to stumble."

Looking at them, Jesus said,
"With people it is impossible, but not with God;
for all things are possible with God."

"The glory which You have given Me I have given to them,
that they may be one, just as We are one;
I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity,
so that the world may know that You sent Me,
and loved them, even as You have loved Me."
