Different Jobs
It began on the deck, while inspecting the several pots of chard, cucumber and rosemary.
The sunshine was bright and lovely - all the more because the sky had either been gray or very wet for three days. The land had needed a really good soaking, and now plants were grateful.

We noticed a mechanical bucket machine a little distance away. One big bucketful at a time, a new trench was growing to draw water away from the nearest home. Nobody is happy when their lower level gets flooded!

The big bucket machine did what it was designed to do. But a shovel was needed as well. Two men used two different tools and together, accomplished the task.

Some distance away a man was using a large lawnmower to manicure between small trees. This job could not be done by a mechanical bucket rig, or by a man with a shovel.

A feathered observer spread a wing, then flew away.
Birds don't bother with tools and machines.
A nest is home, and is not hard to make.
With worms and insects for food, God
provides for them and their little ones.
Life is really pretty simple, after all --
Could men in their pursuit of things, wanting power and control,
have forgotten that they were created to know and love their God?
The tool for that job is merely an humble and contrite heart,
not too proud to bow before its loving Creator,
Whom Jesus called,
My Father.
